Out of seven excellent doctoral dissertations the award committee selected Stefan Binder’s dissertation, titled 'Total Atheism: Making mental revolutions in South India' as the most original and innovative. In addition, the dissertation was also considered to contribute the most to religious studies as an academic discipline, balancing carefully between ethnographic data and theoretical debates.

NGG Lustrum Conference on Dynamics of Religious Diversity

In 2017, the NGG celebrates its 70th anniversary. The lustrum conference of the Dutch Association for the Study of Religion will be hosted by the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies of Utrecht University. The conference will take place in Utrecht, the Netherlands, from October 19 to October 20, 2017.

 

The conference is organised by Christoph Baumgarner and Birgit Meyer.
