The call for papers has been released for the 2017 NGG lustrum conference, which will take place on 19-20 October 2017 and is hosted at the Unversity of Utrecht.
The Spring Meeting of the Dutch Association for the Study of Religion will take place in Groningen on Thursday 18 May 2017, from 1 till 5.
The programme will include (1) the annual members meeting and (2) a book review session.
The General Members' Assembly in particular will be an important part of the program. We will need to elect two members to the NGG Executive Committee as the term of both the President (K. von Stuckrad) and the General Secretary (M. Davidsen) will end this year. We will be in touch about the election procedure in due course.
The transition of leadership of the NGG is also a good moment to sit down and talk about strategy and a few topics that are of importance for the NGG this year. That is why we want to devote more time to this General Members' Assembly than usual.
For the presentation of recent publications, we'll follow the successful model of last year. Please get in contact with Jonathan Barry (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you published or edited a book recently that you want to be presented at the meeting; you may also indicate already if there is someone who can introduce the publication with a 5-10 minutes pitch. Please also forward this invitation to colleagues who may not know about the NGG -- a good opportunity to invite them to join the association!
Finally, it is good to know that we scheduled the Spring Meeting around another event in Groningen that may be of interest to many of our members. The International Conference "Intolerance - Polemics - Debate: Cultural Resistance in the Ancient World" will take place from 16-18 May 2018, ending just before the NGG Spring Meeting will commence. For more information about the conference, see here.
